Operations strategic review for efficiency improvement.
A scientific, systematic and documented way to identify and quantify the hidden costs in your operations.
The hidden costs of operations
Every organisation has a function to perform, such as producing products or services. When there are disruptions, it cannot function as intended.
Examples of these disruptions include delays, overtime, stressed employees, repeated mistakes, rejects, rework, frequent schedule changes and long lead times. They are costly, yet difficult to single out and quantify. The cost they incur is usually not reported: they are the hidden costs of operations.
An Operations Strategic Review (OSR) by Australia Quality Group is a scientific, systematic and documented way to identify and quantify those hidden costs.
What an OSR delivers
The OSR is a report that lists these disruptions and shows how much they are costing the organisation in time and money.
Senior management, such as directors, CEOs, vice presidents and general managers, can use the report to develop short and long-term strategies, because it is presented scientifically, with measurable data, and is easy to understand.
- 01 A list of the disruptions in your operations
- 02 What each disruption costs in time and money
- 03 Measurable data that is easy to understand
- 04 A basis for short and long-term strategies
Is an OSR right for your organisation?
This review is for organisations that have experienced one or more of the following:
- 01 Not sure how or where to start a process improvement initiative
- 02 Implemented improvement processes but achieved limited or no desirable results
- 03 Attempted to identify and prioritise improvement efforts without much success
- 04 A process improvement initiative that lacks a systematic approach
- 05 Unable to identify which improvement tools to use
- 06 Difficulty quantifying issues in terms of time and money
- 07 An existing improvement initiative that is not systematic or scientific
- 08 Unable to quantify the potential savings from an improvement project
How the review works
Our OSR consultants spend time on site performing studies of your operations, reviewing the process from end to end depending on the scope of work.
We look at your operations holistically: customer demand, product offering, inventory control, product flow, information flow, quality performance, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and Delivery-In-Full-On-Time (DIFOT) performance.
- 01 Customer demand
- 02 Product offering
- 03 Inventory control
- 04 Product flow
- 05 Information flow
- 06 Quality performance
- 07 Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- 08 Delivery-In-Full-On-Time (DIFOT) performance
